You place one bet at the start of the round and that bet covers the initial spin plus every cascade that follows until no further match exists. All payouts from every cascade add to your balance using the same bet amount. The multiplier in free rounds applies to each cascade payout individually so a long chain with a high multiplier can return many times your original bet.
